HelveticArchives - Online database maintaining the archival collections of the Swiss National Library (NL)

Swiss Literary Archives (SLA)

The archive database HelveticArchives contains, in alphabetical order, more than 400 inventories of literary archives, estates and collections from the SLA, most of them in detailed indexing. Important personal inventories are from S. Corinna Bille, Blaise Cendrars, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Emmy Hennings / Hugo Ball (double estate), Hermann Hesse (partial estate), Patricia Highsmith, Ludwig Hohl, Golo Mann, Giovanni Orelli, Rainer Maria Rilke and Annemarie Schwarzenbach. Important inventories of literary entities are those of Ammann Verlag, Arche Verlag and the Swiss Schiller Foundation.

A large part of the detailed indexed holdings can also be viewed in the form of ead inventories (see right column, NL finances).

In isolated inventories in HelveticArchives, digitized copies of important documents can be consulted, including photographs by Friedrich Dürrenmatt and Annemarie Schwarzenbach, letters by Friedrich Glauser and Romain Rolland, and manuscripts by Rainer Maria Rilke and Carl Spitteler. Some of these digital copies can also be viewed on the e-manuscripta platform and on Archives Online. For an overview of these holdings, see the link in the right-hand column.

New archive and estate inventories are gradually being added to HelveticArchives. The existing ones will also be updated regularly.
